Hold please…

What I started writing for today was (is) a post about generations. But here’s what I have to offer instead:

When my son was in elementary school, he signed up to participate in a sports team to which he quickly took a dislike. He didn’t enjoy either the game or the coaching, and he wanted to quit mid-season.

So there were many discussions around the dinner table and in car rides about what it meant to quit a team, about commitments and resilience and staying power.

In the end, as I remember it, we agreed that he could quit the team if he told the coach, face to face, that he was not able to finish the season. He had to be brave enough to do that, and then he could be done with it.

So it came down to choosing between two scary things: staying on a team because that was the commitment he’d made or having a tough conversation and letting the commitment end.

We let him choose his path and also left things open for him to find a third way, if there was one. And it all worked out fine, in the end.

How did it work out?

Well, that’s my son’s story to tell, not mine.

And that’s the teaser for the post about generations, which will have to wait until tomorrow because I’m tired and going to bed.

Recipe?

But of course:

Pressure cooker sweet potato coconut curry soup

No; I haven’t made it. But I’m going to, tomorrow. Want to join me?

  1. Can’t wait to see the story.
Recipe sounds amazing… what type of curry do you use? I’m not a fan most of the time bu5 there are some that aren’t so bad. Or maybe a replacement spice??
    Hope you are well…. 😊
